Basketball Recap: Mater Brickell Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Sergio Murtinho and Antonio Medina

Mater Brickell Academy lost against Immaculata-La Salle back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Mater Brickell Academy Bulls took a 75-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (62), the Bulls still had to take the loss.

Mater Brickell Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Antonio Medina and Sergio Murtinho. Medina dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds, while Murtinho went 6 of 9 en route to 17 points and seven steals. That's the most steals Murtinho has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Marcos Colio, who posted nine points.

Immaculata-La Salle's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mike Flores, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Alessio Saumat was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Mater Brickell Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Immaculata-La Salle, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season.

Mater Brickell Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 77-27 loss against Doral Academy on the 15th. As for Immaculata-La Salle, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-53 defeat against Palmer Trinity on the 15th.
