Soccer Game Preview: Burton vs. Contreras

The Burton Scorpions will be playing at home against the Contreras Cobras at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Burton is headed into the game having not lost since November 21 and will look to keep things rolling. They blew past Animo Venice 3-0 two weeks ago. The result was nothing new for the Scorpions, who have now won six contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Contreras had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They beat the Hawks by a goal, winning 4-3. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Cobras' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 895th, while the Hawks are ranked 409th).

Burton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 36 goals over those seven games. Contreras' win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-11.
