Softball Game Preview: Tesoro Titans vs. Santa Margarita Eagles

The Tesoro Titans will square off against the Santa Margarita Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Tesoro's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Segerstrom as Tesoro made off with an 8-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Titans.

Loula McNamara was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single hit, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Reese Fraser was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Bella Barley was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Tesoro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Santa Margarita). They blew past Pearl City 14-0 last Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Tesoro's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Santa Margarita, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2-1 record this season.

Tesoro skirted past Santa Margarita 3-2 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Will Tesoro repeat their success, or does Santa Margarita have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
