Softball Recap: Brookfield Gets the Win

Brookfield's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They never let the Notre Dame Prep Lancers get on the board and left with an 18-0 win. Considering the Bobcats have won 11 matches by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Mary Auricchio was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Isabella Pontecorvo, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI and one run.

Brookfield's victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Notre Dame Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Brookfield and Notre Dame Prep should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings. The Bobcats will face off against Bethel at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (9 vs. 138). Meanwhile, Notre Dame Prep (ranked 43rd) will meet Kolbe-Cathedral (ranked 144th) at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
