Softball Game Preview: Hamburg Hawks vs. Kutztown Cougars

The Hamburg Hawks will host the Kutztown Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Hamburg will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Berks Catholic on Monday. Hamburg blew past Berks Catholic 15-1. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Kutztown got themselves on the board against Schuylkill Haven on Monday, but Schuylkill Haven never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Hurricanes with a sharp 10-0 win. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Hurricanes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Hamburg's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.6 runs over those games. As for Kutztown, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
