Softball Game Preview: St. Francis Spartans vs. IC Catholic Prep Knights

The St. Francis Spartans will take on the IC Catholic Prep Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Francis' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so IC Catholic Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

St. Francis came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against De La Salle, falling 9-3.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for IC Catholic Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They skirted past Saint Viator 7-6.

Madelynn Dinino spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ariani Zito was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelly Cahill, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

IC Catholic Prep's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for St. Francis, their loss dropped their record down to 14-4.
