Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lutheran West). They put the hurt on the Villa Angela-St. Joseph Vikings with a sharp 84-60 win on Sunday. Given the Longhorns' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Vikings are ranked 128th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lutheran West is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points per game. As for Villa Angela-St. Joseph, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Lutheran West will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against Westerville South on Saturday. Villa Angela-St. Joseph and Walnut Ridge will round out the year against one another at at 1:15 p.m. on Friday. Villa Angela-St. Joseph knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Walnut Ridge likes a good challenge.
