Volleyball Recap: Durfee Hilltoppers vs. Brockton Boxers

Durfee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Brockton Boxers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Boxers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

Durfee took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 17-25, 24-26, 25-14, 17-15.

Avery Antunes paced Durfee's offense, picking up ten kills. Antunes got some help from Riley Currin and her 20 assists. Finally, Tajeaya Sterling kept Durfee's defense grounded, leading the team with six blocks.

Brockton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Player #21 led the charge by getting seven digs and two aces. Arielle Takang also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

Durfee's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Brockton, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 19-1.

As of now, neither Durfee nor the Boxers have any future games scheduled.
