Basketball Recap: Piedmont Classical Comes Up Short

Piedmont Classical was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by the Bishop McGuinness Villains 75-26. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Villains are ranked 21st).

When it comes to explaining why Piedmont Classical lost, don't look at Ge'Kayla Goins. Despite the final result, she posted 17 points. Goins continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Adelaide Jernigan continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bishop McGuinness, going 8-for-13 from beyond the arc on her way to 34 points and three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Jernigan has scored at least a third of Bishop McGuinness' points. Claire Sullivan was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.

Piedmont Classical's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Bishop McGuinness, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 21-1.

Piedmont Classical didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 59-49 win against Cornerstone Charter on the 12th. As for Bishop McGuinness, they have also already played their next contest, a 78-61 loss against Lake Norman on the 13th.
