Softball Recap: Caravel Academy Wins High-Profile Match Against Delmar

Caravel Academy faced Delmar in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Buccaneers beat the Wildcats by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-1. Winning may never get old, but the Buccaneers sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

The team relied heavily on Zayda Rocke, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.

Caravel Academy pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Delmar, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-3.

Looking ahead, Caravel Academy will challenge Newark Charter School at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Delmar, they are taking a road trip to square off against Seaford at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bluejays have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.33 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
