The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Macie Dill, who posted nine points along with eight boards and seven assists. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Chima Onyia was another key player, going 5 of 6 on her way to 10 points.
Even though they lost, Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monrovia). They strolled past Purdue Poly Englewood with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 76-57.
Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter better focus on containing Zoie Walls and Emery Newlin as the pair were huge in Monrovia's win. Walls went 11 of 15 on her way to 26 points along with seven steals and six boards, while Newlin almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Tallent, who put up six points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.
Monrovia's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 34.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Monrovia struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.5 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter was dealt a bruising 62-31 loss at the hands of Monrovia when the teams last played back in January of 2024.
