Basketball Preview: Point Arena Pirates vs. Potter Valley Bearcats

Point Arena is 9-1 against the Bearcats since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Point Arena Pirates will be playing at home against the Potter Valley Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. Point Arena knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully the Bearcats like a good challenge.

Point Arena pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Round Valley.

Despite the defeat, Point Arena had strong showings from Derek Billy, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, and Fernando Lopez, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. Billy is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Cody Chavez was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.

Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Potter Valley, who are still winless after their 13th matchup. They had to suffer through a rough 74-30 loss at the hands of Mendocino.

Point Arena's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6. As for Potter Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-13.

Everything came up roses for Point Arena against the Bearcats in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 83-23 victory. With Point Arena ahead 59-12 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
