Baseball Recap: Menasha Comes Up Short

Menasha was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 7-4 to the Xavier Hawks. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 19, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Jacob Coopman put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Paul Schmolinske made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Menasha's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Xavier, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-8.

While Menasha had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
