Softball Recap: Covenant Christian Comes Up Short

If Covenant Christian was riding high fresh off their 16-2 takedown of Speedway on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors fell just short of the Indianapolis Lutheran Saints by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Saints: they've now lost four in a row.

Covenant Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Cope, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Covenant Christian's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 14-11. As for Indianapolis Lutheran, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-6.

Coming up, Covenant Christian will venture away from home to face off against Triton Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. As for Indianapolis Lutheran, they will face off against Greenwood Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Saints are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
