Basketball Game Preview: Stanton County Trojans vs. Lakin Broncs

Stanton County hasn't had much luck against Lakin recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Stanton County Trojans will square off against the Lakin Broncs at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, everything went Stanton County's way against Wichita County as Stanton County made off with a 69-43 win. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Indians are ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Stanton County can attribute much of their success to David Crane, who went 6-for-11 en route to 15 points and seven boards, and Gerardo Robles, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 14 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Crane is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaden Kendrick, who posted 12 points.

Stanton County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Lakin waltzed into their game on Saturday with 14 straight wins... but they left with 15. They were the clear victor by a 56-33 margin over the Buffaloes.

Stanton County's record now sits at 13-4. As for Lakin, their victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1.

Stanton County was taken down by Lakin 73-43 in their previous matchup back in January. Can Stanton County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
