Basketball Recap: Angel Lara Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Braddock

It's playoff time, and Coral Park had no trouble coming through when it counted. They took down the Braddock Bulldogs 81-66 on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Rams, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Coral Park's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Angel Lara, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine assists. Lara's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jeremias Jimenez was another key player, going 11 for 18 on his way to 24 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Coral Park is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Braddock, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season.

Coral Park will square off against Homestead at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Homestead knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten games -- so hopefully Coral Park likes a good challenge. Braddock does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
