Garden City waltzed into their match on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Trenton Trojans, sneaking past 6-4. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by exactly two runs.

Ethan Vanbelle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Armstrong, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ayden Balog, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Garden City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.

Garden City's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Trenton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 21-7 record this season.

Garden City and Trenton should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. Garden City will take on Annapolis at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (135 vs. 393). Meanwhile, Trenton (ranked 28th) will meet Taylor (ranked 200th) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
