Basketball Recap: Shawnee Mission West Comes Up Short

Shawnee Mission West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against the Shawnee Mission Northwest Cougars, falling 66-16. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Cougars are ranked 85th).

Shawnee Mission West's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13-1. As for Shawnee Mission Northwest, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shawnee Mission West will welcome Mill Valley on Tuesday. As for Shawnee Mission Northwest, they will challenge Olathe West at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
