It was a good run, but Xavier Prep unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jesuit Crusaders.

Cam Burke and Vanjuan Vladimirov stepped up to the plate in a big way. Burke went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Vladimirov scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those two RBI gave Burke a new career-high.

Even though they lost, Xavier Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.6.

Xavier Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. Jesuit has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Xavier Prep will welcome La Quinta at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Xavier Prep 2.3, La Quinta 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Jesuit, they are taking a road trip to challenge Servite at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Servite's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so Jesuit's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
