It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Legacy had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Basic Wolves with a sharp 68-42 victory. The Longhorns have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 20 games by 22 points or more this season.

Legacy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Laila Gines, who went 11-for-15 on her way to 29 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. The dominant performance also gave Gines a new career-high in shooting accuracy (73%). Alabama Nieves was another key player, going 10-for-16 to rack up 25 points and six rebounds.

Legacy was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Basic only posted nine assists.

Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mia Frias, who posted 19 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Tatum Meatoga, who put up 12 points along with six boards and three steals.

Legacy is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.9 points over those games. As for Basic, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 16-9 record this season.

Looking ahead, Legacy and Foothill will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a seven-game winning streak alive. Basic has already played their next game (against Somerset Academy Losee), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
