Basketball Recap: Anoka Comes Up Short

Anoka lost against Providence Academy back in February of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Anoka Tornadoes took a blow against the Providence Academy Lions, falling 89-44. While losing is never fun, the Tornadoes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Lions are ranked first).

Maddyn Greenway was her usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-9 from long range and almost dropping a double-double on 35 points and nine assists for Providence Academy. The match was Greenway's 45th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Beckett Greenway, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on her way to 22 points.

Anoka now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Providence Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Anoka will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Coon Rapids at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. As for Providence Academy, they will welcome Minnehaha Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Minnehaha Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
