Football Game Preview: Pike County Bulldogs vs. Straughn Tigers + How To Watch

The Pike County Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Straughn Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Straughn took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Pike County, who comes in off a win.

Pike County is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Daleville: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Bulldogs blew the Warhawks out of the water with a 57-20 final score. That looming 57-20 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulldogs yet this season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 44 points the game before, Straughn was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They took a 22-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ashford. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Straughn saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tate Watson rushed for 125 yards and one touchdown. Watson is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. Straughn also got a significant boost from Charlie Jordan, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 123 yards.

The victory made it two in a row for Pike County and bumps their season record up to 3-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.0 points over those games. As for Straughn, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.

Pike County might still be hurting after the 24-0 loss they got from Straughn in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
