League recap: West Bolivar tops Simmons to extend winning streak

West Bolivar extended the longest winning streak in 2A Region 4 this week by beating Simmons, 44-8. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.

South Delta took down Marshall 54-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Shunterrius Stamps ran for 82 yards in the win.

West Bolivar's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kylan Johnson threw for 119 and two touchdowns and Dennis Pendleton had 90 yards receiving. On the ground Kailo Moore chipped in 161 yards. Rashan Conway helped West Bolivar's passing attack out by catching two balls for 29 yards.

5-foot-11 quarterback Johnson of Henry Johnson's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1076. He has also thrown 12 touchdowns. On the ground, the Bulldogs' Hakeem Johnson has rushed for 1490 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Ray Harper. The Riverside star has 25 catches for 355 yards.

O'Bannon made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,017 from 11,331. The improvement was the result of 56-20 victory over Riverside last week.
