Basketball Game Preview: Celina Bobcats vs. Aubrey Chaparrals

The Celina Bobcats will face off against the Aubrey Chaparrals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Celina will be strutting in after a victory while Aubrey will be coming in after a defeat.

It was a proper cat-fight when Celina took on Van Alstyne on Tuesday. Celina walked away with a 50-37 win over Van Alstyne. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Panthers are ranked 811th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Aubrey didn't have quite enough to beat Sanger on Tuesday and fell 58-56.

Celina is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.9 points per game. As for Aubrey, their loss dropped their record down to 18-8.

Celina and Aubrey were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but Celina came up empty-handed after a 58-57 defeat. Can Celina avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
