Recap: Plainfield Quakers vs. Carmel Greyhounds
After a string of three wins, the Plainfield Quakers's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carmel. Plainfield lost against Carmel in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 53-51 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Plainfield saw an underclassman step up: Noah Smith scored 13 points. The match was Smith's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Harper Baker-lands, who scored 9 points along with 5 rebounds.
Carmel can attribute much of their success to Evan Harrell, who scored 13 points along with 9 rebounds. Ryan Clevenger was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Plainfield's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Carmel, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Plainfield and Martinsville will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Carmel, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Noblesville at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Noblesville's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
