Peyton Billings posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Friday. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.

Billings' effort led Wilkes Central over Elkin and she'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Wilkes Central closed last season having struggled on the road and they will enter the matchup having lost nine straight away games dating back to last season.
