Basketball Recap: Austin Comes Up Short

Austin had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 3-11 to make it four. They were outmatched by the Bob Jones Patriots and fell 68-37. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-37 back in December of 2025.

As for Bob Jones, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.1 points over those games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bob Jones to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ja'Kyah Smith, who went 10-for-15 en route to 24 points in addition to six assists and six steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 16 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Elise McClain, who shot 44% from the field on her way to 20 points and four steals.

Austin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-52 defeat against James Clemens on the 16th. As for Bob Jones, they have also already played their next contest, a 76-50 victory against Florence on the 16th.
