The Hamilton Aggies will take on the West End Patriots in a tournament on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Hamilton earned a 10-5 win over Carbon Hill. The victory continues a trend for the Aggies in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.
Molly Sandlin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Emory Lynch was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Lizzie Huff, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, West End never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over Locust Fork. Considering the Patriots have won 16 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
The result came thanks to Braylee King's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addie Pierce, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Kennedi Nix was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
West End was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in eight consecutive contests.
Hamilton's record now sits at 15-22. As for West End, their record is now 23-7.
