Basketball Game Preview: Bay Tigers vs. Poplarville Hornets

The Bay Tigers will head out to face off against the Poplarville Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Poplarville took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Bay, who comes in off a win.

It was a proper cat-fight when Bay challenged Columbia on Tuesday. Bay skirted past Columbia 38-36. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since December 28, 2024.

Meanwhile, Poplarville played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Greene County, falling 59-18. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-12.

The win made it two in a row for Bay and bumps their season record up to 12-14. As for Poplarville, they dropped their record down to 1-18 with the loss, which was their 22nd straight on the road dating back to last season.

Everything came up roses for Bay against Poplarville in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 61-19 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bay since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
