Colorado Academy picks up fifth straight win on the road

Recap: Colorado Academy Mustangs vs. Jefferson Academy Jaguars

The Colorado Academy Mustangs won the last time they faced the Jefferson Academy Jaguars, and things went their way on Saturday too. Colorado Academy enjoyed a cozy 59-45 victory over Jefferson Academy. Given Colorado Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Jefferson Academy is ranked 185th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Colorado Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than George Buyers, who scored 20 points. Clyde Love was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jimeto Orji, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Mendez, who scored nine points along with four steals.

Colorado Academy pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Jefferson Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colorado Academy will square off against Eagle Ridge Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Aiden Wanrow and Jason Bratis. As for Jefferson Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Forge Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Forge Christian is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
