Basketball Game Preview: Choctaw County Chargers vs. Starkville Academy Volunteers

The Choctaw County Chargers will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Starkville Academy Volunteers at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Thursday, Choctaw County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-48 to Philadelphia. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Starkville Academy came tearing into Friday's game with seven straight wins and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Generals by a score of 34-21.

Starkville Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.2 points per game. As for Choctaw County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Choctaw County took their victory against Starkville Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 by a conclusive 64-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Choctaw County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
