Baseball Recap: Emmaus Hornets vs. Liberty Hurricanes

Emmaus easily dispatched East Stroudsburg North last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Hornets fell just short of the Liberty Hurricanes by a score of 8-6 on Tuesday. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Hurricanes recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Emmaus got a good showing from Ryan Hummell, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hummell has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Josh Diaz was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bryan Kain, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI.

The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 4-2. As for Liberty, their record is now 5-1.
