Hatley has gone a perfect 4-0 against Walnut recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Hatley Tigers face off against Walnut Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Hatley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Walnut's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Walnut will be up against a hot Hatley team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Hatley came out on top against Hamilton by a score of 6-2 on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly four runs.
Ashlynn Dabbs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Brileigh Lewis was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February.
Hatley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Walnut made easy work of Pine Grove on Saturday and carried off a 7-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Walnut let Baylee Spight and Addison Hicks run wild. Spight scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Hicks went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Allie Jackson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Hatley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Walnut, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hatley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Walnut struggles in that department as they've averaged .350. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hatley beat Walnut 6-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Does Hatley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Walnut turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
