Basketball Recap: Osceola Takes a Loss

Osceola lost against Palm Harbor University back in January of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Osceola Warriors had to suffer through a 64-18 loss at the hands of the Palm Harbor University Hurricanes. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 429th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 184th).

Osceola's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Adrian Jenezon, who posted six points and six blocks, and Holland Downey, who earned three points and five rebounds. Jenezon has been hot, having posted two or more blocks the last six times she's played.

Even though they lost, Osceola smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Leading Palm Harbor University to victory were Brenna Walters and Devyn Lavelle. Walters went 6 of 14 on her way to 16 points and five steals, while Lavelle went 8 of 14 on her way to 19 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Smith, who had eight points along with ten rebounds and four steals.

Osceola now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Palm Harbor University, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Palm Harbor University beat Osceola by a score of 60-12 on Tuesday.
