It was a good run, but Pender unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-match winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the East Duplin Panthers by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, Pender can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 312th, while East Duplin are ranked 140th).

Eduardo Morales wasn't going to let East Duplin walk away unscathed as he scored both of Pender's goals, bringing his season total up to 14 goals.

Pender's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11-2. As for East Duplin, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Pender will take on rival Heide Trask at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, East Duplin is set to square off against their familiar foe South Lenoir at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
