Soccer Game Preview: Monroe vs. Chavez

Monroe is 0-8-2 against Chavez since December of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Vikings will be home for the holidays to greet the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Monroe gave up the first goal on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Grant 2-1. The result kept Monroe happy, as they haven't lost a game since December 2nd.

Meanwhile, Chavez came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.3 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Huskies a 3-0 shutout. Chavez's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three matchups.

Chavez's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Monroe, their win bumped their record up to 5-2-2.

Monroe came up short against Chavez when the teams last played back in February, falling 3-1. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
