Recap: Soquel Knights vs. Monte Vista Christian Mustangs
The Soquel Knights were the 76-48 winner over the Monte Vista Christian Mustangs when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Soquel lost to Monte Vista Christian on the road by a decisive 61-46 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Soquel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1004th, while Monte Vista Christian is ranked 243rd).
Despite the loss, Soquel still got an impressive performance from Peyton Bortz, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Nico Ramirez , who scored 13 points.
Bryce Brogan was the offensive standout of the game as he went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 2 assists. The matchup was his third in a row with at least ten points. Jack Ryan was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Soquel still hasn't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3. As for Monte Vista Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Soquel's road trip will continue as they head out to face Oakwood at 3:30 p.m. on December 6th. As for Monte Vista Christian, they will take on Harbor at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
