Basketball Game Preview: Mater Lakes Academy Bears vs. Space Coast Vipers

Having just played yesterday, the Mater Lakes Academy Bears will jump right back in to play the Space Coast Vipers at 2:20 p.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

On Friday, Mater Lakes Academy was beaten by Grandview Prep 73-31. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Pride are ranked fourth).

Space Coast has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost 71-49 to Cocoa on Thursday.

Despite the defeat, Space Coast saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Phillayjah Carroll posted 16 points. JaLayah Anderson was another key player, putting up nine points.

Space Coast's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Mater Lakes Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-7 record this season.
