Voorheesville hasn't had much luck against Ichabod Crane recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Blackbirds will head out to face off against the Riders at 4:30 p.m. Voorheesville will be strutting in after a win while Ichabod Crane will be coming in after a loss.
On Tuesday, it was close, but Voorheesville sidestepped Troy for a 4-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blackbirds.

Abby Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Tabakian, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Ichabod Crane came up short against Averill Park on Wednesday and fell 5-1. The match marked the Riders' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Torri Cutler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, Ichabod Crane saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Skylar Konkle, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Ichabod Crane's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Voorheesville, their record is now 4-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Voorheesville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ichabod Crane struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Voorheesville suffered a grim 17-4 defeat to Ichabod Crane in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Blackbirds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
