Basketball Recap: Warsaw Takes a Loss

Warsaw lost against Wheatland back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Warsaw Wildcats fell 62-51 to the Wheatland Mules. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while the Mules are ranked 98th).

When it comes to explaining why Warsaw lost, don't look at Logan Gemes. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 8 on his way to 17 points. Another player making a difference was Garrett Ferguson, who posted ten points and six assists.

Warsaw's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Wheatland, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Warsaw Wildcats duke it out with the Green Ridge Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Wheatland, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Niangua at 5:30 p.m.
