Basketball Recap: Banning Lewis Academy Comes Up Short

Banning Lewis Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 45-34 to the Rye Thunderbolts. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunderbolts this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 45-39 back in January.

Rye got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Abrianna Chianelli out in front who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards. That's the most points Chianelli has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Taci Ehrlich, who earned 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Banning Lewis Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Rye, their win bumped their record up to 9-13.

Banning Lewis Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 31-29 victory against La Junta on the 1st. As for Rye, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 42-22 win against Florence on the 1st.
