Recap: Winfield vs. Warrenton
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Winfield ultimately got the result it was hoping for on Friday. They dodged a bullet, finishing off Warrenton 43-42. The tight race was right in line with the MaxPreps state rankings' forecast.
Winfield's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 21 points in the first half. Warrenton countered with 7 points, leaving the score at 21-7 going into the half. Winfield almost let the match get away from them in the second half, but they had just enough oomph to take it. The win bumped their record up to 5-2. The defeat dropped Warrenton's record to 1-6.
Next week Winfield take on Duchesne at 7:00 PM. Duchesne are limping into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. Warrenton will look to defend their home turf against Orchard Farm at 7:00 PM. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Warrenton and Orchard Farm will really light up the scoreboard.
