Softball Recap: Cleveland Takes a Loss

Cleveland extended their losing streak to ten on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-14 in the process. They came up short against the El Camino Real Royals, falling 12-2. If the Cavaliers were looking for revenge after losing 5-1 to the Royals when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Cleveland saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Nutt, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Jessica Van Zyl also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for El Camino Real, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

On El Camino Real's side, Amaya Perry was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Nerissa Winokur was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Coincidentally, Cleveland and El Camino Real will both be playing Taft the next time they take the field. The Royals will head out to face the Toreadors at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Cavaliers will host them at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
