Volleyball Recap: Newton South Falls Short Against Ranked Acton-Boxborough

Newton South faced Acton-Boxborough in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Lions took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Revolution. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since June 1, 2023, but that streak is no more.

While Newton South had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 20 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-22, 18-25, 25-23.

Acton-Boxborough was led to victory by Anuj Pawar and Parth Pawar. Anuj had nine digs, while Parth had 40 assists and 11 digs. Parth has been hot for a while, having posted 18 or more assists the last 34 times he's played.

Newton South's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Acton-Boxborough, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-5.

Newton South has already played their next contest (against Boston Latin Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Acton-Boxborough, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Algonquin Regional on the 16th.
