Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask DeSoto County). They blew past the Bayshore Bruins 25-1 on Monday. The win was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on nine straight.
Caleigh Jo Duke looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, DeSoto County got a massive performance out of Emery Skinner, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. The dominant performance also gave Skinner a new career-high in RBI (five). Ellie Whidden was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
DeSoto County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .700. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
DeSoto County pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bayshore, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
