Basketball Recap: Mt. Carmel Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Mt. Carmel Christian Academy was the 15-11 winner over United Christian Academy when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Mt. Carmel Christian Academy Warriors lost 53-33 to the United Christian Academy Crusaders on Thursday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Mt. Carmel Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Darbi Hunsberger posted 16 points and three steals. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for Hunsberger. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebekah Shifflett, who scored six points.

Mt. Carmel Christian Academy now has a losing record at 3-4. As for United Christian Academy, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Mt. Carmel Christian Academy will face off against Grace Christian at 4:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for United Christian Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-22 win against Appalachian Christian School on the 17th.
