Volleyball Recap: Wilby Comes Up Short

Wilby came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to Seymour. Wilby was not able to make up for their loss to Seymour from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Wilby took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-14, 25-18.

Their offense was headlined by Evelyn Roca-Raymundo and Marielyz Lopez, who picked up three kills apiece. They got some help from Jannelyz Marin and her four assists. Roca-Raymundo was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Wilby's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Seymour, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

Wilby has already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against St. Paul Catholic on the 7th. As for Seymour, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Naugatuck on the 7th.
