Volleyball Recap: Tampa Prep Terrapins vs. Indian Rocks Christian Eagles
With a playoff game on the line, Tampa Prep rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Indian Rocks Christian Eagles by a score of 3-1. Winning may never get old, but the Terrapins sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Tampa Prep had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 32-34, 25-20, 25-17, 25-23.
Tampa Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gabby Maxwell, who had 13 digs and two aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Leilani Lawrence, who had ten digs.
Tampa Prep kept the net locked down and finished the game with 11 blocks. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indian Rocks Christian only had five.
Despite the defeat, Indian Rocks Christian saw an underclassman step up: Allie Hollenbeck had 27 digs and two aces. Hollenbeck is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. Olivia Anderson was another key player, getting four digs, three kills, and two aces.
Tampa Prep's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-16. As for Indian Rocks Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-6.
Tampa Prep will head out to take on Carrollwood Day at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Indian Rocks Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
