Soccer Game Preview: St. Francis vs. St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute

St. Francis is 2-8 against St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute since September of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Red Raiders will welcome the Marauders at 4:30 p.m. St. Francis will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more goals each match than the last.

St. Francis' defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 5-0 margin over Cheektowaga. The result was nothing new for St. Francis, who have now won five matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Christopher Gosciak and Evan Weyer scored all five of St. Francis' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in August, St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute was forced to settle for a draw on Monday. Neither they nor Lockport could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The outcome might've been different if Max Timms hadn't been hit with a yellow card, which no doubt limited his ability to make aggressive plays down the stretch.

St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute's draw makes their record 9-6-2 this season. As for St. Francis, the victory snapped their losing streak at three matches and leaves them with a 6-10 record.
