Football Recap: South Panola Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Oxford

South Panola faced Oxford in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Tigers took a hard 29-13 fall against the Chargers. Having soared to a lofty 39 points in the game before, the Tigers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Although South Panola took the loss, they still got scores from Tristan Colenberg and Johnno Jenkins.

Oxford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Drew Dean, who rushed for 39 yards and one TD, and also threw for 124 yards and one touchdown. Jamarion Pegues was another key back, rushing for 115 yards and one score.

South Panola's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Oxford, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

South Panola has already played their next matchup, a 34-19 win against Southaven on the 12th. As for Oxford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 63-20 victory against Lafayette on the 12th.
